Kartal Kimya Aims to Set the Industry Benchmark in Feed Additives

Dr Murat Kalyoncu, General Manager of Kartal Kimya, states that the company’s fundamental principle is to represent Türkiye abroad with excellence and to create added value for the country.

As one of Türkiye’s leading companies in animal health and feed additives, Kartal Kimya has made a name for itself since its establishment with its strong vision, entrepreneurial spirit, production capacity and innovative products. With its high-quality feed additives and solution-oriented formulations, the company has been a key supplier for both domestic and international customers since 1985. In our interview with Dr Kalyoncu, we discussed innovations and R&D at their production facilities, goals in global markets, developments within F.A.S.T. Lab., and their investments in logistics.

Kartal Kimya is known for its continuous drive for innovation. Why is modernisation in your premix plant so important for you and for the industry?

Thank you for the question. We always say that premix production is a serious business. It requires not only technical know-how and precision but also purpose-built equipment and supporting software systems. From the very beginning, we invested heavily in our premix facility, which was designed to have one of the highest production capacities in Türkiye and the surrounding region. Our production line, including mixers and micro-dosing units, was supplied by Bühler, one of the most reputable companies in this field, and specifically designed for premix manufacturing. The system was also supported with integrated automation software. In the new period, we continued to invest in our premix facility through Bühler collaboration once again, this time introducing WinCos, an advanced automation system that provides full traceability. Through this digital platform, we are now achieving more detailed warehouse management, batch reporting, barcoding, packaging, and labelling, continuously renewing and improving ourselves. We take great pride in our work and value sharing this passion not only with our domestic industry partners but also with our colleagues and customers in export markets.

You emphasise the importance of exports. Why is this so significant for Kartal Kimya?

As a 100% Turkish-owned company, representing our country abroad and contributing added value to the national economy are among our core principles. Türkiye is a leader in feed production within its region. Building on years of experience and a strong communication network, we have already been exporting for some time. Recently, however, we have intensified our efforts, strengthening our logistical infrastructure, continuously improving our technical support and services, and most importantly, investing in people. Exporting provides valuable experience. Seeing our products accepted in international markets, not only our premixes but also our patented, solution-oriented speciality products, is a source of pride for us. Equally, offering services alongside products, fully developed with our own expertise and qualified staff, is key to sustainable growth for Kartal Kimya.

Would you describe Kartal Kimya as a strong partner for your industry stakeholders and suppliers?

We operate in a dynamic industry and are fully aware of our responsibilities. Our main duty is to deliver our products at the required high quality, on time and under competitive conditions. This principle defines the mindset and working discipline of every member of our company, from the Board of Directors to all employees. Our global network is both wide and strong. We have long-standing partnerships with our suppliers, many of which have grown into genuine friendships over time. Beyond trade, we now collaborate on mutual know-how transfer, joint product and service development, and regional business partnerships. These projects are already under way and will continue to expand.

Can you tell us about F.A.S.T. Lab. and its contribution to the sector?

The name stands for Feed Additives Solution Technologies Laboratory. Its roots go back to our early years, when it mainly focused on raw material input control and finished product analysis. Even then, it was one of the few laboratories in Türkiye capable of performing reliable vitamin and mineral analyses for the feed and premix industries. Over time, collaborations with our suppliers encouraged us to expand our capabilities and invest further, leading to the creation of F.A.S.T. Lab. Today, F.A.S.T. Lab. not only provides a comprehensive portfolio of instrumental chemical analyses but also serves as an R&D infrastructure that supports product development and innovative solutions. It is now positioned to serve not only Türkiye but also neighbouring regional markets.

Why has logistics become such an important focus area for you?

Türkiye’s geographical location is unique, and our production facility in Gebze, one of the country’s most important industrial zones, offers a strategic advantage. In line with the growth of both domestic and international trade, we have invested in a Type C bonded warehouse within our company structure. In addition, we maintain an efficient and extensive transport network, enabling us to provide fast and competitive service both to our local partners and to export markets.
